During a yagé or ayahuasca retreat

What to expect during your yagé (ayahuasca) retreat

Drinking the spiritual plant, Yagé, also known as “Ayahuasca”, is not like drinking any other sort of substance; as it contains within itself a complete spiritual realm.

Our top priority is that you have a guided, and safe experience with the medicine

When the medicine is prepared in ceremonial and traditional fashion by those who have internalized its mystery, then its purity is preserved, and it can resound with all of its vibration with those who drink it.

This is how we want the medicine of this sacred plant to turn up in your life.

A safe space for your yagé or ayahuasca retreat

Here at Ziru Yai, safety is our main priority. We want to ensure we provide a comfortable and safe place for our guests to feel at home and navigate this sacred process with the plants.

This experience is not only one of the medicine, but the medicine in a pristine natural environment, with its traditional caretakers. In the jungle where the yagé has been cultivated for centuries.

During the retreat there will always be someone there for you to share your experience with. All of our facilitators have been passionately working with the sacred plants for many years and are trained with love to hold this space for you to drop into any emotions or sensations that may arise.

Accomodation for your yagé or ayahuasca retreat

A good night's sleep and proper nutrition is necessary in order to recharge. Our accommodation is comfortable amidst nature. One of the best things about our retreats is a restful night's sleep. Each bed comes with a mosquito net and screen so that you have all the privacy you need. We also have Western toilets and a shower in close proximity.

You can see more details about our retreat locations here.

Food and diet for your yagé or ayahuasca retreat

We believe nourishment is needed for vitality which is why during the retreat all of the food is freshly prepared, sourced from Amazon superfoods, and chosen specifically to restore electrolyte depletion and strengthen you for your ceremony.

There will be a cook on site specifically trained in preparing foods before and after ceremony. Meals are communal and the water in the region is a special treat. Not only clean, but fresh mountain water unique in the Amazon.

Activities for your yagé or ayahuasca retreat

We include complementary activities to the Yagé ceremonies. The space for interaction with, and contemplation of Nature is fundamental to the suitable integration of the process with the medicine — as Nature is medicine itself.

Activities include connecting with and bathing in the river, hiking and birdwatching, temezcal (also known as inipi or sweat lodge), yoga, mud baths, singing and sharing around the fire.

The purge and purification ceremonies that we conduct with native plants of the jungle are an inportant part of the traditional ceremony. They play a role in supporting the physical and spiritual bodies during the process. In this manner, we utilize this plant with absolute respect, hand in hand with those who have studied all of its spiritual science in depth, to accompany and guide the ceremonies.

We will also conduct traditional Indigenous ceremonies, with times of calm, and times in which the taitas will sing their chants (ícaros), flourishing communication with nature, guiding the ceremony, and healing.

We are so glad you joined us for this experience. If you’re having difficulty reintegrating, just contact us!
