After a yagé or ayahuasca retreat

Reintegration after a yagé (ayahuasca) retreat

Integration is where the real work begins as you apply the positive changes you have experienced in ceremony througout your life.

Reintegration from Yagé ceremony is from one to three months

The Yagé experience is profoundly healing for the body, the mind, and the spirit. After the ceremony there will be an integration process where you view your life with a new perspective, and heal your relationships with ancestors, Nature, and loved ones. Some might say that integration is where the real work begins.

It is very common to see changes in your life in the months after the ceremony, as you may express a new and more authentic version of your life. You might find that as the old falls away, new exciting paths, opportunities and relationships open to you.

Emotions clearing after yagé (ayahuasca) retreat

It is not uncommon to have negative or old emotions come up to clear. So if you experience sadness, anger, or grief after a ceremony it is very normal. You should not attach to these emotions but realise that you may be clearing emotions from the past that you did not allow yourself to feel properly or also ancestral emotions. In this case, the feeling is releasing and you should be extremely proud of your hard and courageous work you have done.

It is also normal to feel alone or lost after the experience of deep connection to nature and spirit. Deep connection is a precious gift, and one you will carry with you for the rest of your life. If you let this beautiful gift reintegrate you will find yourself capable of, and interested in, more authentic connections to other people, Nature, and spiritual experiences in the future.

Physical changes after yagé (ayahuasca) retreat

It is important to realise that Yagé is very healing to the body. This means the body will go through a natural process of renewing itself and it needs the foods, atmosphere, and time to do so.

Many people will need to be careful with their diet and avoid alcohol, tobacco and toxic foods as the body will heal and rebuild for many months following the ceremony. Good nutrition during this time is important and you might find yourself changing your diet, or preferring more organic, or sustainably grown and harvested produce and meats.

There is a deep, and sustaining meaning to traditional ceremony. It gives you direction in your life, and insight and compassion into the people who surround you. Paying attention to reintegrating this into your life so it is expressed fully takes discipline and attention but it will increase the meaning of your life.

Mental changes after yagé (ayahuasca) retreat

It is incredibly important during the time after the ceremony that you take time for yourself. You will need to meditate on what you have experienced, and incorporate this healing into your life as well.

To meditate on what you have learned. Journaling and meditation are good activities to help with reintegration. Everyone is different and there is no perfect fit, so it is good to experiment to find what works for you. Traditionally taitas often do not offer a lot of interpretation on the experience of the medicine because this experience is tailored to you. Your journey is about your life history, your experiences, and you are the one who needs to interpret it meaningfully for your life.

However many people coming from the Western world might need some additional help interpreting the experience which is cross-cultural, or finding a way to apply these insights in an industrialized-world context.

Support after yagé (ayahuasca) retreat

We are available for support after the ceremony, just like before the ceremony, and offer a 1-1 individual support session which can be scheduled for a few weeks after the retreat. These sessions offer you the opportunity to discuss your sacred plant medicine journey and any challenges you may be having so that we can help to integrate them more smoothly into your life. Remember you are not alone and we are here for you.

We are so glad you joined us for this experience. If you’re having difficulty reintegrating, just contact us!
