Sweat Lodge
The “Sweat lodge”, Inipi or temazcal altar, are sacred ceremonies of the natives of North America that leads us to connect directly with the four life-giving elements, earth, water, air, and fire in communion.
The inipi or temazcal is considered by the native Americans to be the womb of Mother Earth. This was the first form of healing that was given to the human being. Around the world ceremonial steam baths have brought many benefits on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level.
The sweat lodge, temazcal or inipi is a powerful therapy for bonding with the land and nourishes us with the awakening of our ancestral memory. But in addition to working for our spirit, this circle of medicine gives us many benefits.
Temazcal stimulates the lymphatic system, helps to eliminate toxins, since when the temperature rises above 40°C the skin becomes a third kidney, the high temperature to which we are exposed inside a temazcal causes the body to sweat humidity does not allow sweat to evaporate, so the body's self-regulation system (sympathetic and parasympathetic system) responds, (homeostasis) circulation accelerates and we sweat even more, eliminating toxins as much as possible, the skin turns red indicating that the excessive heat and cold are being expelled, achieving the balance that is required in the body, in this way we sweat more than when we do any type of exercise since, during and after the temazcal, the body's metabolism reaches a similar rate to run or swim for a long time.
It also tones the skin, acts by purifying the respiratory tract and digestive system, tones the nervous system, helps with bone, muscular and gynecological problems. It is an ideal vehicle that transports us to a state of peace and inner tranquility, quieting the mind when experiencing the heat of the bath and the healing properties that nature gives us through the different medicinal plants that are used in it.
During an intense temazcalli session, between 2 and 3 kg of body weight is lost, of which a high proportion is water; approximately 1,500 ml of sweat is lost in one session, through which the excretion of end products of the metabolism is increased. (toxins) such as uric acid, creatine, urea, lactic acid, sodium chloride, also balances the acid-alkaline PH of the blood and contributes to the elimination of heavy metals that are absorbed in modern societies; such as Zinc, mercury, copper, lead etc.
