The ZiruYai family gathered in the jungle

Our story

A family grown on the path of the sacred plants

For more than twenty-six years we have cared for the ancestral ceremonies, ancient ways of healing and connection with creation.

Who we are

We are a family that grew up on the path of the sacred plants. These medicines accompanied us to grow and to see the world in a more loving way; the sacred traditions and the elders of these traditions welcomed us, and in a very natural way it became the path of our lives, one we have chosen to share so we can help others connect with their true Self.

The protected jungle, home of the jaguar

Why “Ziru Yai”

The jaguar, guardian of the jungle

“Yai” means jaguar in the Siona language, and the jaguar is the guardian of the jungle. Its presence indicates the health of the ecosystem; it is an umbrella species, helping maintain the connectivity of the forest and the countless species of flora and fauna that depend on it.

In the spiritual world of many cultures of the Americas, the jaguar is the protector who brings balance, order and vitality, and teaches us to walk in harmony with all beings of our sacred mother earth. We carry a deep connection with this great feline, for the territories we care for are its home, the land in which yagé grows and where our taitas prepare it.

Reciprocity

Caring for the jungle is not a choice, it is a duty

Nature gives us everything necessary for life, every day: food, water, air, medicine. One of our main principles is reciprocity towards her. Caring for the jungle is not a choice but a duty to our mother, which we carry out with deep gratitude.

In gratitude for the medicine we constantly receive, our mission is to share it, so that more people may discover their own light. A large part of the exchange goes back into conservation projects in the Putumayo, and into the care and support of the elders, the guardians of yagé, and their communities.
